INCREASE THE MOMENTUM TOWARDS ENDING POLIO NOW: COME TO THE POLIO SUMMIT IN ABUJA NIGERIA.

The dramatic reduction in the number of polio cases in Nigeria during the past year has received world-wide attention.
Rotary International is hosting a Summit in Abuja Nigeria from 20 -22 September, 2010 to x-ray those factors that have produced the heart-warming results and generate additional and sustainable momentum towards the interruption of the transmission of the wild polio virus in Nigeria this year.
We believe that the experience of Nigeria will make an applicable case study for nailing the coffin on polio in the remaining few endemic countries.

Please visit the Summit web site at http:/www.rotarypolioplussummitnigeria2010.org to view addional information and register.

2010 DISTRICT ASSEMBLY FOR D9140 ENDS

Attended the District 9140 District Assembly in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State of Nigeria on 23 & 24 April 2010. Delivered an address entitled: "Planning For A Better, Bolder, Bigger Club: An Effective Rotary Club". It became necessary for me to re-define the elements of an effective Rotary Club to include a fifth pillar: create and sustain a good image in the community, in addition to the usual four dealing with membership, projects, The Rotary Foundation and Leadership Development.
Told the audience that "giving a good speech is much less difficult than doing a good deed" and challenged them to do the difficult deed. The paper was the basis for a group discussion.
RRFC Joshua Hassan was also present to talk on the Rotary Foundation.
D9140 should be commended for showing continuity in leadership planning, for, the immediate PDG, DG and DGE were all there and participated actively.
